I created the name "machstormer" about 37 years ago.
It was the name of a ship in a story i wrote back then.
No, you cannot read the story.(destroyed about 36 1/2 years ago, LOL)
No, I will NOT tell you what it was about.
Yes, the story totally sucked. (and that's if I was being NICE about it)
This was the ONLY original name I created.
All other ship names I "borrowed" from dictionaries and encyclopedias at the library. (don't judge, I was only 7)
*update*
Sorry Roy, you cannot read it because it no longer exists.
The ONLY reason why it survived for 6 months is because of Isaac Asimov.
Yes, THAT Isaac Asimov.
Yes, the ONLY author to have written a book in 9 out of 10 categories of the Dewey Decimal System.
Yes, the guy who wrote over 500 books using approximately 40 different pseudonyms (only about 1/3 were fiction).
Anyway, back to my story.
In a magazine article, he advised new writers to put their manuscripts away for about 6 months.
Then take it out, and judge/criticize it as if you were reading it for the first time.
I started reading it in the morning.
By noon, it was only a very small pile of ash.
