The critical damage system has been altered a bit.
I have revised it for usage.
Terms:
respective attribute(RA)=strength if you are warrior, range if you are archer, magic if you are mage
Wmin=minimum power of weapon
Wmax=maximum power of weapon
D=defence of your target (except other players, because the PvP follows another system)
base power(BP)=RA+Wmin
top power(TP)=RA+Wmax
power range=(RA+Wmin)~(RA+Wmax)
base damage(BD)=(BP-D)>/=0
top damage(TD)=(TP-D)>/=0
C=critical multiplier
Introduction(I):[How the damage system works]
For D>/=TP,damage range=0~0
If this happens you can just forget about attacking it and upgrade RA.
For TP>D>/=BP,damage range=0~TD
Part of your attack deal 0.
If D=BP,then the average damage=TD/2
if D>BP,then the average damage=[(TP-D)(TP-D+1)]/2(TP-BP+1)
Theoretically, you can still deal higher average damage by upgrading dexterity in this case.
However,you need a very high base-top power difference weapon,probably more than 150.
Therefore,I would recommend you upgrade your RA first.
For BP>D,damage range=BD~TD
This is the normal situation.
The average damage=(BD+TD)/2
Introduction(II):[How the critical damage system works]
When you hit a target,
The program randomly pick a number between 1-300.
The chance of it selecting any number is 1/300.
If your dexterity>/=the number picked,
you crit that attack.
If your dexterity<the number picked,
you do not crit that attack.
This also leads to another conclusion:
Your dexterity has completely no effect on critical hit after 300,it only increases your speed afterward.
Body:[RA vs. dexterity]
First, assume you have T amount of dexterity where 1</=T</=300
(For those who have over 300 dexterity, seriously you cannot upgrade dexterity by leveling anyway.)
The chance you earn a crit is T/300.
Since you can only crit or not crit,
the (frequency you crit+the frequency you do not crit)=100%
Average damage with crit=average damage*(T/300)*C+average damage*((300-T)/300)
Now,if you put 1 point in dexterity,
new average damage=average damage*(T+1/300)*C+average damage*((300-(T+1))/300)
=(average damage/300)(C(T+1)+(299-T))
If you put 1 point in RA,
new average damage=(average damage+1)*(T/300)*C+(average damage+1)*((300-T)/300)
=((average damage+1)/300)(CT+(300-T))
Note:This formula does not apply to the situation D>BP in Introduction(I).
To make it simpler, lets make them equal first.
(average damage/300)(C(T+1)+(299-T))=((average damage+1)/300)(CT+(300-T))
...
(spared)
...
(C-1)(T-average damage)-300=0
Therefore,if (C-1)(T-average damage)-300>0,
upgrade dexterity.
If (C-1)(T-average damage)-300<0,
upgrade RA.
------------------------------------------------------------------
However, please be reminded that having higher average damage does not necessarily mean you can kill faster.
To put it simple, enemy has limited HP.
All excessive damage dealt has no effect but still taken into account in this formula.
Moreover, the effect is usually not significant unless you have put more than 20 points in it.
I am not confident that it is correct.
Always feel free to point something suspicious out.
