Some kind of duplication scheme....

I have encountered this a few times but not quite like this. I sometimes trade with some lower level players, help them SOME. They ask me to show me what i have. I will list it, but they insist on me putting it on display. I did once, but they seem to get irate when I only list them. I think there is some kind of item duplication happening with the trade system.
This time it is a level 7 offering me a dino sword. They said that he found it, that some noob dropped it. It is little hard to believe. Any thoughts?

This one prefaced the conversation with "You think i am a noob". So maybe it is kind of true, but there is something going on. Maybe even a cabal....
I just would hate to see the economy of this game get screwed up.

I had some else ask to see my weapons on my alternate. Higher level, equipped with with light swords, wanting to look at each others peni... err... weapons. He stated that he was trying to do a swap withe light swords. The downgrade seems illogical, and the persistence denotes some motive.
It seems peculiar to just want to look at only the higher level items.

That was probably so he could scam you of your rapier by him removing the light sword at the last second and confirm right when you go to hit confirm.
I've grown immune to that scam, however. You should watch out

Hey poopy, I realized I saw your items, and I'm interested in buying your future armor and legs. Cool, I already know that hamsterjuice is your Alt account, this time, I have more sources to buy or sell maybe.

I'm going to try and fix this way of scamming at the last minute for the this update if I have the time.
So how does one scam the other person exactly? Who has to click confirm first, etc?

It may have been a poorly thought out scam (my character could not even use them.) I just have a suspicion that something is afoot. After the screenshot, I informed him that I could not use them and he still persisted.
I buy, sell and repair cars, motorcycles, and other things with combustion chambers all day in a terrible neighborhood. When people start acting weird I have to pick up on that and discontinue the contact, or literally I could die. Some add up, some do not. These contacts seem less then genuine.
Then again maybe, I am just over thinking this awesome game that is a respite from that world. I am not perfect. Yesterday, some I worked with had his dirt bike stolen when I was on a parts run. The deal felt funny. I lingered for about an hour while he finished up the repair to sell it to him. Before I left, I told him to leave collateral. He did not listen. The guy went for a test ride and never came back. I should have stayed there and insisted on collateral.

I usually don't trust anyone who I don't know so I never trade with strangers.
